African Export-Import Bank Seminar—Promotion and Development of Factoring in Africa: Towards a Facilitative Legal and Regulatory Environment

David Tatge, at the invitation of the African Export-Import Bank, spoke in June 2014 in Lagos, Nigeria, on the topic "Legal Aspects of Factoring" at the bank's seminar, "Promotion and Development of Factoring in Africa: Towards a Facilitative Legal and Regulatory Environment." Other speakers included Erik Timmermans, Secretary-General of the International Factors Group (IFG) in Brussels; Peter Brinsley, a factoring consultant from London; and several bankers and lawyers from Africa.

The seminar was attended by central bankers and regulators from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Cameroon; elected representatives from Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Mali, Cape Verde, and Cameroon; and bankers, lawyers, and factoring executives from many African countries, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
