Tatge Comments on Law Firm Opportunities from Small Hospital Bankruptcies
December 1st, 2007
David Tatge was quoted in a December 1, 2007, American Lawyer magazine article about recent hospital bankruptcies that could lead to big business opportunities for law firms with restructuring departments.
In the article, "Flatlining Hospitals Mean Big Fees for Law Firms," Tatge said that hospitals are at the losing end of simple economics. "One of the difficulties here is that as money gets paid down the chain ?... the provider is at the bottom," he said.
The article noted that while the list of problems plaguing the nation's hospitals is large, the most significant losses stem from the growing discrepancy between costs and insurance reimbursement rates. These problems impact most hospitals, but particularly small medical centers.
